The Lake District is open to the public 24/7. With no gates or barriers, you’re free to come and go as you please. The Visitor Centre is open 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, 7 days a week in April – October, and 10 am – 4:30 pm, 7 days a week, November – March.
There are lots of events and festivals held each year in the Lake District, so be sure to check out what’s on when you’re planning your trip. From agricultural shows and Christmas markets to beer festivals and Farmer’s markets, you can get involved with loads of different things.
If you’re an experienced walker looking for a challenge, the Lake District offers them in abundance. The Fairfield Horseshoe begins and ends in Rydal, is about 10 miles long and takes approximately 6 hours to complete. Helvellyn ridge walk which is said to be the best ridge walk in the area.

I booked the National 3 Peasks challenge in 24 hours. i had regular communication from Rob and the team prioe to the event checking in on my progress, which really spurred me on as well as a helpful fitness plan i has to folow. For the challenge itself Rob and Tim really helped put the group at ease, and was very encouraging. Just come back from completing the 24 hour natinal 3 Peaks Challenge with Bookitlist. 25-27th June 2021. From start to finish the group I was in was well looked after.
