Start

Travel to Knighton where your first night's accommodation has been booked. Knighton is a sleepy town in the Powys on the River Teme.

Day 1

Knighton to Felindre. 15 miles (24km) / 2467 ft (752 m) ascent.

The Lower Lliw Reservoirs are a popular for fishing and walking. If you fancy a pint and a warm meal The Sheppard's Inn the local pub is a great watering hole.

Walessheep

Day 2

Felindre to Llananno(T). 10 miles (16km) / 1709 ft (521 m) ascent.

Llananno sits slumbering as an old-town without neighbours. The medieval church is small but ornate and the locals are still a community in the old fashioned sense of the word.

Walesdam

Day 3

Llananno(T) to Bwlch-y-Sarnau(T). 9 miles (14.5km) / 1529 ft (466 m) ascent.

Bwlch-y-Sarnau hamlet is situated at over 1300 above sea level. Nestled in the Cambrian Mountains walkers are drawn to the tranquillity of the area, a true haven for wildlife without the interruptions of modernisation.

Day 4

Bwlch-y-Sarnau(T) to Llanidloes. 12 miles (19.5km) / 1716 ft (523 m) ascent

Llanidloes is the first town on the River Severn surrounding by forests, lakes and mountains. The Tudor style beams of The Old Market Hall are an ode to a simpler time.

Day 5

Llanidloes to Dylife. 14.5 miles (23.5km) / 2697 ft (822 m) ascent.

Dylife is a former lead mining village that's not a cute stop off on this epic Welsh trek with a famous waterfall walk that's well worth the effort.

Walestrail3

Day 6

Dylife to Machynlleth. 14.5 miles (23.5km) / 2283 ft (696 m) ascent.

Machynlleth claims to be the "ancient capital of Wales" and has a long-running history dating back to Roman settlements and reenactments of Shakespearean plays.

Finish

Depart from Machynlleth after breakfast.

This itinerary lists our preferred overnight stops for this tour. Sometimes there may be a shortage of available accommodation in a preferred location, in which case we will transfer you from the trail to your accommodation and back again at no extra charge. Overnight stops marked with a (T) will always require transfers as standard.

Our standard prices per person are based upon two people sharing a room; if you are on your own, or are part of a group but require a room of your own please contact us prior to booking.

By Rail - There is a rail station at the start of the trail (Knighton) and also at the end of the trail (Machynlleth). By Bus - Various bus services run to Knighton and from Machynlleth. From London - Trains run from London Euston & Paddington stations to Knighton.

As with all holidays insurance is recommended.
