A handful of the Middle East, a pinch of Africa, and a twist of Europe—Marrakech is a complex dish best served hot. Steeped in ancient culture, artistry and religion, Marrakech is a city that longs for exploration. It’s loud like the echoing call to prayer, vibrant like the flavours of cumin, saffron and herbs in the air, and mysterious like the medieval streets and hidden passageways.
Marrakesh is a city of two sides; on the one hand, there’s the bustling intrigue of the Medina, with its souks, mosques and riads, and on the other is the modern district with its high-end hotels and late-night watering holes.
And with the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert and the Atlantic coast right on the doorstep, it’s a great starting place to explore the country.
Moroccouses the Moroccan Dirham. Although it sounds obvious now, don’t get confused between Moroccan Dirhams and the United Arab Emirates Dirhams. UAE Dirhams are worth over twice as much.
The best time to visit Marrakech is during the spring (March-May) or autumn (September-October). In the summer it is uncomfortably hot and freezing in the winter.
Although a Muslim country, Morocco is pretty chilled. You will draw attention to yourself if you go out in anything at all revealing, though. We’d recommend covering your shoulders and knees (and the rest, obviously).
In Morocco, bartering is pretty much a way of life. In the markets or with taxi drivers you’ll be expected to do this. If you’re worried about it, ask your hotel to book the taxi and agree on the price in advance. In supermarkets or restaurants, the prices will usually be labelled.
Rob was a fantastic guide. The trip was very enjoyable and Robs knowledge and expertise were great. Would defo recommend
Excellent service from start to finish. I booked the National 3 Peasks challenge in 24 hours. i had regular communication from Rob and the team prioe to the event checking in on my progress, which really spurred me on as well as a helpful fitness plan i has to folow. For the challenge itself Rob and Tim really helped put the group at ease, and was very encouraging. Such a credit to business. i would not hesitate at all in recommending bookitlist to friends and family and will define use again in the future. Thank you for pushing me to finish the challenge!
