You'll begin your trip in Weymouth, a charming seaside town known for its sandy beach, colourful beach huts and Georgian architecture. After meeting up with the rest of the group you'll be transferred to the nearby town of Abbotsbury, where you'll begin your walk along the sweeping shores of the Chesil Banks which are fringed by lush Dorset countryside. You'll enjoy scenic views of St Catherine’s Chapel and panoramas of Portland and Chesil Beach. You'll return to Weymouth in the early evening where you'll have the rest of the evening to enjoy as you please.
After breakfast, you'll head to the Isle of Portland via public transport. The Jurassic Coast's most southerly point, the island is connected to the mainland by a thin stretch of land and is a popular destination for hiking, rock climbing and kayaking. On your looped hike around the island, you'll explore its best and most beautiful sights, and enjoy a coffee or a cream tea in the charming White Stones Art Cafe.
After spending the night in Weymouth, you'll be transferred to the coastal hamlet of Osmington Mills for a walk to Lulworth. Though this stretch of the Jurassic Coast can be challenging, it is perhaps the most beautiful, and along the way you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramas of limestone cliffs, striking rock formations and postcard-perfect beaches. You'll stop at Lulworth Cove, one of the region's most beautiful beaches, and the world-famous limestone arch of Durdle Door. In the evening you'll be transferred to your hotel in the nearby town of Swanage where you'll spend the night.
Renowned for its blue-flag beaches, Victorian Pier and sweeping postcard-like views, the seaside town of Swanage typifies Dorset's unique charm, and today you are free to explore it as you please. Alternatively, you can accompany your guide on an optional walk
through the countryside to the village of Worth Matravers, with a couple of stops, and the option for further hikes along the way.
You'll begin the day with a walk to the village of Corfe Castle, to visit the eponymous ruins which date back to the 11th century. On the way, you'll take in dramatic landscapes, and fascinating landmarks, (including fossilised dinosaur footprints). Once you arrive in the village you're free to explore the local shops and eateries or to book yourself in for a castle tour. You'll then return to Swanage, either on foot or via public transport (depending on the ability of the group).
There are no more activities planned, so you are free to do as you please, perhaps spend another night in Swanage, or continue solo on your Jurassic Coast adventure!
