From the bohemian, medieval district of Trastevere to the hallowed grounds of one of the 7 new wonders of the world, the immortal Roman colosseum, there seems to be a charm and finesse to every corner of this riveting, renaissance inspired city.
We've rummaged through the rubble first hand, and explored Rome in it's entirety isolating only the most freddo (Italian word meaning cool) activities and experiences, so you can indulge in an extended weekend of delights and discovery. Check into the Hotel Santa Maria hotel in the medieval, bohemian neighbourhood of Trastevere. Once you've settled in it's time to get right into the 'meat of the action' with an afternoon foodie tour. Marvel at the medieval architecture and sample local street food, visit a historic inn for pasta and wine, and enjoy delicious artisanal gelato with a local guide who will help highlight how the cultural and culinary elements of Rome are inseparable.
As night falls it's the perfect opportunity to explore the buzzing nightlife of this authentic Italian neighbourhood at one (or several) of the famous wineries and bars at hand. We recommend Spirito Da Vino (no prizes for guessing what their speciality is). The wine cellar wouldn't look out of place in Count Dracula's castle, with it's subtle spot lighting and cave like contours, serving only the freshest locally sourced produce. The menu was carefully created by Chef Eliana Catalani who worked hand in hand with Nobel Prize winner Rita Levi-Montalcini to execute one of the finest selections of wines and cheese in all of Italy.

We'll begin the day by unlocking the mysteries of the Vatican littered with masterpieces and the iconic Sistine Chapel ceiling. Next head to the rarely seen 'Vatacombs', the resting place of many popes and home to some of the most ancient relics in all of Rome, quickly followed with skip-the-line access to St. Peter's Basilica.
We'll then return to the centre of Rome to tick off one of the 7 new wonders of the world from our personal Bookitlists with an epic guided tour through the Roman Colosseum. Trawl through the underground passageways that are usually off limit to the public, and trace the footsteps of the fallen Gladiators. Step out onto the arena floor and ask yourself... "are you not entertained?".
As night falls we continue ticking off Rome's most pivotal monuments and historical cornerstones. Snap some Instagram pics that serve as like magnets at the baroque Trevi fountain, peruse the Pantheon and unearth the tomb of the famous renaissance artist Raphael and people watch in Piazza Navona.
