New UK boutique hotel openings
In preparation for what could be a very busy summer, a host of boutique hotels are opening across the UK.
With international travel currently restricted, many UK residents are planning for a summer staycation, and when it comes to accommodation, they are set for a host of new and interesting options from which to choose, including, a historic, family-run inn in the Cotswolds, and a luxury hotel in a former prison!
One of the suites at the NoMad Hotel, London
NoMad London - Covent Garden
Due to open in May, this magnificent 91-room hotel from luxury hotel group NoMad will be their first in Europe, and, perhaps their most spectacular, housed in an iconic former magistrates court in Covent Garden that dates back to the late 19th century.
Along with the range of stunning rooms and suites, the hotel will feature a number of high-end drinking and dining options, including, their pièce de résistance, The NoMad Restaurant and Bar, a palatial all-day eatery in a beautiful atrium filled with natural light!
Sleep like a king at Thornbury Castle
Thornbury Castle - Bristol
Situated in Thornbury a village on the outskirts of Bristol, this unique hotel offers guests the opportunity to step back in time and spend the night in a genuine Tudor castle! Constructed during the reign of Henry VIII in the early sixteenth century, the stunning stone structure still retains many of its original features, though has recently undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment and now boasts 27 stunning suites and an excellent fine-dining restaurant!
One of the cottages at Newhall Mains
Newhall Mains - Inverness, Scotland
Set in a once derelict family-owned estate on Scotland's picturesque Black Isle Peninsula, which is situated just off the North Coast 500 (the UK's most iconic and scenic road trip route) this boutique accommodation comprises stunning hotel suites and a range of beautiful self-catering cottages of various sizes, and even boasts it's own airfield!
One of the bathrooms at Bodmin Jail Hotel
Bodmin Jail Hotel - Cornwall
Perhaps the most unique of the new openings, this luxury hotel is housed in a former 18th-century prison in the Cornish village of Bodmin.
Recently refurbished, the prison cells have been transformed into high-quality and characterful hotel rooms with freestanding baths or tropical walk-in showers which come complete with natural and locally sourced toiletries, whilst guests can enjoy a delicious a la carte menu in the Chapel Bar and Restaurant (housed in the prison's former chapel), or more casual offerings at the somewhat ironically-named Jolly Hangman Tavern!
En Suite at The Double Red Duke
The Double Red Duke - Costwolds
Named after a popular figure in local folklore, this charming stone inn is situated in Clanfield a small village in the Costwolds, the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in all of England and Wales. Dating back to the 16th century, the recently refurbished and renamed hotel offers a range of cozy rooms that blend original features with contemporary furnishings, and also houses a scenic garden and terrace and a restaurant that serves delicious seasonal dishes using fresh local produce.
