Sweden opens the world's largest outdoor bar!

Sweden has created the largest outdoor bar in the world, by setting up al fresco drinking spaces in some of its most beautiful settings.

People can book a seat at one of 16 socially distanced tables that are situated in picturesque locations throughout the country. Once there, guests will be able to choose from a selection of pre-made drinks, whilst expert mixologists from across the country will also be on hand to teach them how to create their own cocktails using natural ingredients which they will find in the surrounding area.

“The DIY recipes enable visitors to explore Swedish nature through world-class taste experiences, Jens Heed, program director of food travel at Visit Sweden, said recently in a press release. “The country’s 100 million-acre pantry of fruit, berries, vegetables, and crystal-clear spring water is open to everyone. We call it the Drinkable Country — the world’s largest open-air bar."

According to reports, the tables have been placed strategically across Sweden, including in the beautiful northern region of Swedish Lapland, and in the West between Vänern and Vättern (its two largest lakes) in an effort to showcase the country's diverse natural beauty.

Inspired by the success of 'The Edible Country' (the world's largest DIY gourmet restaurant) which the country launched back in 2019, the concept reflects the deep connection Swedes have for the outdoors; it is one of the few countries in the world where 'the freedom to roam' i.e the freedom to enjoy nature in any way they please (as long as they cause no damage) is protected by law.
