A ‘haunted’ Scottish village with a private beach has gone on sale!
A picturesque village in the central Scottish highlands has been put up for sale for just £125,000 ($173,000), however, there is one catch: it is said to be haunted!
Situated some two hours drive northwest of Edinburgh on the banks of Loch Tay, the Old Village of Lawers is spread over 3.31 acres of scenic countryside, and according to reports, comes with its own private beach, and trout fishing rights on the loch.
But the village also features a number of historic ruins, including, the remains of the House of Lawers, constructed in the 17th century on the site of what was once the home of the Lady of Lawers. According to local folklore, the lady was revered for her remarkable prophecies and her ghost is said to frequent the village to this day.
A brochure created by the Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group, the agency responsible for the sale of the land, states that one of her most famous prophesies was of 'fire coaches' crossing the Drumochter Pass, which was apparently, her predicting the steam railway.
One thing is for sure, whoever purchases this unique plot of land will not only be the proprietor of a picturesque slice of Perthshire countryside, but also the guardian of a wonderfully compelling piece of Scottish folklore.
"This is an extremely rare opportunity to buy a part of Scotland's heritage in one of the most beautiful places in the country. The sale offers a unique chance to be the owner and custodian of an area wonderfully rich in history, romance and tradition." - Jon Lambert (Partner at Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group)
