Hope On The Horizon As Germany Lifts Travel Restrictions For 20+ Countries Including The U.K

It’s now been officially confirmed that Germany has lifted the travel ban to many European countries in a first open border policy since early March.

Foreign Minister Heiko Maas recently was noted to say that it may permit Germans to visit the rest of Europe from June 15th. In a press statement it was declared:

“The Federal Government decided on June 3, 2020, that the travel warning for the member states of the European Union, for Schengen-associated states and for the United Kingdom should be lifted from June 15 and replaced by individual travel advice,”

However this is not a complete relaxing of the rules. None essential trips has be warned against and there will be a restricted number of flights both outgoing and incoming into Germany.

In order to come into Germany you must have a valid cause.

Border Control

The requirement of a valid reason for entry will in principle be maintained, but there will be additional facilities for travel for family or personal reasons,”

There are still border controls in place with several countries such as France, Austria and Switzerland.

Some borders will be marked more diligently such as the one with Denmark and ongoing consultations are taking place with the Danish Government. However one thing is for sure, it’s another step in the right direction for the travel and adventure community.
